3D Reverse Engineering
With 3D reverse engineering, a 3D scanner collects 3D surface data measurements of a physical part. Once you have the 3D mesh data, you then have all the information you need to build the CAD file properly, you can do it more accurately and faster than designing from a blank slate. This process is also known as Scan to CAD. Standalone software or plug-ins for Rhino and SOLIDWORKS are available.
