ABS CARBONITE combines the properties that you love about ABS with the added benefits of carbon fiber. While traditional ABS is a mainstay of just about anyone’s 3D printing filament collection, ABS CARBONITE offers additional features that make it a superb 3D printing material.

Our carbon fiber ABS is a composite material that offers the stability and strength of ABS, but with added lightweight strength and a lower tendency to warp. The material is highly printable with finished parts that are rugged, yet refined — and the material offers the same post-processing options as regular ABS. Whether you need to fully customize the appearance of your print or desire a shinier finish, ABS CARBONITE can be sanded, primed, painted or finished with an acetone vapor treatment.

While ABS CARBONITE responds beautifully to post-processing techniques, its unique appearance looks beautiful on its own. The carbon fiber ABS filament prints in a deep shade of graphite with an exceptionally even, semimatte finish.

Like our other carbon fiber reinforced filaments, PETG CARBONITE offers a host of additional benefits, thanks to the addition of high-modulus carbon fiber. Enjoy high stiffness without added weight, along with heat resistance, and superior water and chemical resistance and low warpage. While traditional PETG already has a low tendency to warp, the addition of carbon fiber reduces risk of warpage even further, creating tight tolerances and even higher dimensional accuracy.

PETG CARBONITE is engineering-grade and highly printable, featuring an appealing uniform texture, dark charcoal color and an even, matte finish.

NYLON CARBONITE (NYLON CARBON FIBER FILAMENT)

Developed for engineering and industrial applications, Nylon CARBONITE is a carbon fiber reinforced nylon filament that is excellent for prototyping and producing functional parts.  This 3d printing filament offers the chemical resistance, durability, and signature subtle flexibility of nylon — but with the structural rigidity of carbon fiber. In addition to adding light-weight strength, carbon fiber provides extra thermal resistance and prints easily, with less warpage than regular nylon filaments.  When printed, Nylon CARBONITE provides an appealing semi-matte black finish.

SECTION 4, ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • 3D printing with carbon fiber reinforced filaments are abrasive and can wear out a brass or aluminum nozzle.
  • Drying – very important.  This product is supplied dry and sealed in thick 4mil pouch with several packs of desiccant.  However, it is made using nylon and will absorb more moisture than other resins when left exposed to the environment.  Excessive moisture will result in popping at the nozzle (water boiling off, a little steam) and excessive drooling and nozzle build-up.  Make sure to keep this filament in a dry location between uses. If the filament does get wet, you can dry it out with a basic toaster oven (not one for food consumption). Recommend drying for 2-3 hours at 70-80°C. The reel itself has lower thermal resistance than the nylon filament and will distort / melt before the nylon.
